When you're handed lemons...don't expect oranges.

So I was browsing the WoW forums the other day when I happened upon all the PVP bitching that was going on. One thing that caught my eye was that PVP players deigned themselves the divine right of PVP and nothing more and are complaining in droves about the current state of WoW (World of Warcraft for those not in the know). I've been meaning to say this for quite some time now and I feel that now it is finally time to clean house and let it rip. To those who bitch about WoW PVP: you've been playing the wrong game, comrades.

Let's recap for a tick. WoW, since day one, was a raid based PVE game. An online Dungeons and Dragons, if you will. PVP was a distant afterthought that wasn't even included in the game until very much later. Yet the PVP crowd think themselves to be above us lowly PVE folk. I say fuck 'em. You knew what this game was when you first signed up for it. You wanted PVP, play Quake, Counterstrike, Dark Age of Camelot, or Lineage. All of those are PVP oriented games. Don't come in here trying to fuck the game up for your own selfish needs.

On the subject of WoW PVP, I remember back as a young warrior (level 2x ish) I enjoyed a nice scrap from time to time. All this took place back in WoW Classic, also known as Vanilla WoW. Fast forward to the relase of The Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King and PVP has now become a distorted mess. Class balancing, or any semblance of it, has gone out the window. This fiasco is even further amplified by the pollution that is Arenas. You have class imbalances and then add gear imbalances, and you, friends, have a vanglorious clusterfuck of the likes that the gaming community has never seen.

I, as well as a lot of people, signed on for the PVE aspect of the game. The lore, adventure, and exploration were the prime selling points for many of the people that made Azeroth their second home. Again, I say, if you are playing WoW only for the PVP, then you're playing the wrong game, chico. This game was built from the ground up as a raid-based PVE game. If all the PVP folk at this point are getting pissed off, then sorry about your damn luck. These people are non-raiders playing a raid based game. What the bloody hell did they expect was going happen? Also, before anyone says any crap about paying $15 a month to play, let me clear up one little thing. Those $15 you're dropping every month are for quality of service, meaning that as long as the servers are up, the game is functioning correctly, and you don't have people falling through the damned earth, Blizzard has fufilled their end of the bargain. As far as the subjective "quality" of the game that ties into the gaming experience, well, your mileage may vary. This isn't Burger King where you can always have it your way. Hell, even at Burger King, you can't always have it your way. It's been a fantasy of mine to eat a whopper off of Jessica Alba's ass, but that doesn't mean that BK is gonna let me do it.

Bottom line: when you're handed lemons, don't expect oranges. You knew the score from the get go.

Seasons Greetings

Tis the time of year where goodwill towards your fellow man is emphasized. Although said ideal should be practiced 365 days a year, 1 day is better than none.

At any rate, Merry Christmas!
